Fabric Designer Spotlight: Alison Glass
This week we are sharing our love of Alison Glass fabrics. Little Fabric Shop carries a over 200 of her fabrics and thought you might enjoy learning a little bit more about her and her beautiful collections.
About Alison Glass
Alison Glass is a surface designer. She finds inspiration from nature and artisans. Alison created a design business in 2007. She worked on both home remodeling projects and custom home décor pieces. This passion led her to create artwork in the surface design space. Alison Glass designs fabric for Andover Fabrics. In addition to designing fabric, she has created sewing patterns, paper goods, enamel pins, patches, and screen prints.

Sun Print 2022
Sun Print 2022 celebrates the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Sun Print fabric line from Alison Glass and Andover Fabrics. Sun Print 2022 continues the tradition of beautiful colors paired with modern design. These fabrics work beautifully together or with previous Sun Print collections. We can't wait to start sewing!
Pulsar
Pulsar is a Handcrafted batik fabric collection from Alison Glass! It works as a beautiful blender fabric. It can be mixed with other Handcrafted collections and can be combined with quilting cottons. The colors are deep and bright with a range of lights, mediums, and darks that will work well for patchwork. This 100% cotton fabric is a little lighter in weight than our screen-printed fabric lines making it a super choice for garments as well as quilting.
Ellipse
Ellipse, a new take on a useful dot and stripe collection, is all about the ovals. It is a blender line in a vivid, fresh, full spectrum Alison Glass color palette. Each design features tiny and small ovals with florals, scarabs, and rainbow abacuses for added interest and fun. Both selvedges have a little something extra – a surprise detail that can be fussy cut into a special design.
Sun Print Luminance
The Sun Print Luminance fabric collection from Alison Glass is the latest version of the Sun Print line. These fabrics feature an array of colorful tones in lights, pastels, and darks. Each fabric continues to offer the vibrant colors and modern designs we love from all of the Sun Print fabric lines.
Century Prints Hopscotch
Hopscotch features Compass, Grow, Stitched, and Trinket linework designs from Alison Glass printed in white pigment on a spectrum of beautiful Andover Century Solids. Andover Century Solids are a line of premium 100% cotton solid fabrics with the same shrinkage rate as other Andover fabric, a beautiful drape and feel, and incredible saturation. The line is a stand out in the industry and offers a wonderful new option for solid fabrics. The one hundred colors in the full collection celebrate Andover’s first century as a family business!
Sun Print 2021
The Sun Print 2021 collection very colorful, rainbow of twenty-seven pieces. The designs, scale, and colors make it an excellent addition to the Sun Print family of fabrics. ‘Tuesday’, from Road Trip, makes another appearance in nine new colors. The tiny flowers and leaves will add some pizzazz to your quilt projects. ‘Crochet’ is also appearing a second time. Originally from the Handiwork collection, ‘Crochet’ is a graphic interpretation of Alison’s grandmother’s tablecloth and a celebration of family heirlooms and tradition. The nine new colors will provide many fun design opportunities. The third design, ‘Trinket’ is brand new and celebrates the Trinket quilt pattern. The motifs are sure to be fun to fussy cut for whatever project you like.
Art Theory
Art Theory, originally from the Ex Libris fabric collection, is a long time best seller. This favorite design is now a whole collection of beautiful oversized all over patterns and some very usable neutrals. The collection comes in two colorways Day and Night. The gorgeous rainbow color story shines against the neutral backgrounds and mix beautifully with the entire range of AG fabrics. This new Art Theory circle is 24″ across!
Kaleidoscope
The Kaleidoscope Stripe and Plaid collection is a new addition to the Kaleidoscope color book. It has the same fantastic hand and drape of our solid Kaleidoscope fabrics with the added design elements of multiple-colored stripes or a plaid. They look amazing and are a great substrate for garments, quilts, and bags. We have just a few fabrics left in this collection.
Sun Print 2020
Sun Print 2020 continues the sewing/stitching theme. Stitched, which originally appeared in the Seventy-Six line, is a pretty running stitch pattern filled with organic and geometric line work. Embroidery, from the recent Handiwork line, is a mash up of more than one hundred of Alison Glass's motifs puzzled together in a large 24" repeat. There are a lot of details and bits to notice. It makes a great background and would also be fun to embroider. The brand-new design, Menagerie, is a cross stitch sampler with lions, beetles, bunnies, mushrooms, bees, plus many floral and geometric elements. There are so many details to notice. As always, each design comes in nine colors that create a paint box for you to work with.

Between – Arriving June 2022
The upcoming Between fabric collection continues Alison Glass’s signature style of fabrics filled with rich colors and modern designs. This line is overflowing with florals, geometric designs and contemporary graphics. The Between collection is expected to arrive in our shop this June 2022.
Sewing with Alison Glass Fabrics
Table Runner
Alison Glass and Giucy Giuce collaborated to create the Mini Series pattern collection. These mini foundation paper piecing patterns are a total blast to work with. I created this beautiful table runner with the Kaleidoscope fabric line.
Sew Together Bag
The Sew Together Bag is a bagmaker’s go to pattern. We love the many zippers and pocket s in this creative bag pattern. This beauty was created using her Adorn lawn fabric from a few years ago.
Infinity Scarf
Alison Glass has utilized many different types of fabric. We love how she is not afraid to expand her design beyond quilting cotton. This infinity scarf was constructed using her Mariner Cloth fabric. This fun scarf even has a secret pocket to store a wallet, phone, or anything you need to have close at hand.
Crystal Gem Quilt
A few years ago, I attended the Pink Castle Fabrics Glamp Stitchalot. This Crystal Gem Quilt (pattern currently not available for sale) was designed by Lizzy House. This quilt was created using fabrics from many different Alison Glass fabric lines. We love how easy it is to combine fabrics from previous collections to create a beautiful, cohesive project.
Lined Drawstring Bag
We love the Lined Drawstring Bag Pattern by Jeni Baker! Combine it with the Art Theory fabric and you have the most adorable bag! This pattern is beginner friendly and has 8 different size options!
Clasp Purse
As soon as the Kaleidoscope fabric line came out, I couldn’t wait to make a clasp purse! Look at how cute it turned out!!
Face Mask
Who loves wearing a face mask? Yes – no one! At least we can look good while we are out and about. Once again, the Art Theory fabric was used to create this sewing project. We have a pleated face mask tutorial if you need yet another face mask pattern.
