Little Fabric Shop Quilt: Wyoming Valley Blocks
This month we are creating the final block for the Little Fabric Shop Quilt. This block uses many of the techniques from previous blocks, but in a smaller size. You will be creating Half Square Triangles and Diamond in Square Blocks. This month’s Wyoming Valley quilt block is a bit more intricate than previous month’s blocks, but all the details create a beautiful finish. Pay close attention to block placement and direction, but don’t worry – we’ll walk you through every step. Let’s get sewing!
We will once again use the Creative Grids® Half-Square 4-in-1 Triangle Quilt Ruler and the exact same cutting and sewing techniques we used last month to create the Road to Oklahoma blocks.

Fabric Requirements:
The table below indicates the fabric requirements for the ENTIRE quilt. Additionally, it provides information on color names and the color letters. We recommend quilter’s weight cotton for this project.
We used Cotton + Steel Basics fabric. We have also created a fabric bundle for this quilt and all the fabrics follow the monthly instructions exactly.
Cutting Requirements:
Use the Block Layout Guide below along with the Cutting Chart to cut out all the fabrics.
Create Version #1 Half Square Triangles:
You will create 48 individual Version #1 Half Square Triangles.
STEP 1: Sew Blocks
Layer BLOCK 1 on top of BLOCK 2 with RSF each other. Draw diagonal lines from corner to corner on BLOCK 1 as shown below.
Pin to hold fabric layers in place. Sew a ¼-inch seam allowance on either side of the drawn lines as shown below. Repeat this step for the other 5 stacked blocks.
STEP 2: Cut Blocks
Cut the large square into four units as shown below.
Now cut along the drawn diagonal lines. You will have a total of 8 HST.
STEP 3: Square off HST
Trim to size by positioning the 2” horizontal dashed markings over the HST seam line. Trim.
Press seams towards darker fabric. Repeat these 3 steps to create a total of 48 individual HST.
Create Version #2 Half Square Triangles:
You will create 32 individual Version #2 Half Square Triangles.
STEP 1: Sew Blocks
Layer BLOCK 3 on top of BLOCK 4 with RSF each other. Draw diagonal lines from corner to corner on BLOCK 3 as shown below.

Gather BLOCK 7 and BLOCK 8.
Draw a diagonal line from point to point across BLOCK 8 on WSF.
STEP 2: Sew & Trim Two Corners
Place BLOCK 8 WSF up on the upper left corner of RSF up BLOCK 7 and pin in place. Then place another BLOCK 8 WSF up on the lower right corner of RSF up BLOCK 7 and pin in place. Sew directly along drawn line on both BLOCK 8’s.
Create ¼-inch seams on both the sewn BLOCK 8 corners. Place a ruler along the sewn seam with a ¼-inch overlap. Trim.
Press seams of triangle corners toward the outer triangle.
STEP 3: Sew & Trim Remaining Two Corners
